PHOENIXVILLE >> Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred in a church parking lot Wednesday night.
Police received a report of an assault at the intersection of Main and Morgan streets at 7 p.m. Wednesday, according to a post on the Phoenixville Police Department’s Facebook page.
When they arrived, officers found a 36-year-old female with multiple stab wounds to her torso and extremities.
The victim, whose name is being withheld by police at this time, is a resident of Philadelphia, according to a press release from Phoenixville Police.
Police determined she was stabbed while seated inside a vehicle in the parking lot of the First Presbyterian Church, located on Main Street, between Washington Avenue and Morgan street.
Police also recovered the weapon at the scene.
The victim underwent emergency surgery for at Paoli Hospital.
“No arrest has been made, but investigators have developed a person of interest and the investigation is ongoing,” police stated.
Borough police were assisted at the scene by Chester County Detectives.
