KENDRAPARA:The headless body of an unidentified man was found chopped to several pieces, packed in a sack and abandoned along National Highway- 5(A) at Tikarapanga Chowk within Marsaghai police limits here on Wednesday.

It is suspected that the man was brutally killed at least two to three days back as the decapitated body had started to decompose. On  Wednesday morning, some locals grew suspicious after noticing foul smell emanating from the sack and informed police who rushed to the spot and recovered the mutilated body.
Kendrapara SP Dayanidhi Gochayat said the deceased is believed to be around 25 to 30 years old. Prima facie, it appears that the man was killed two to three days back. “We are making inquiries about cases of missing persons in nearby areas. Sniffer dogs and scientific team   have been pressed into service to investigate the case,” the SP said and added that after getting the autopsy report, the exact cause of death will be ascertained. Police registered a case and sent the body for postmortem.
