Jodhpur: An Army jawan committed suicide here on duty on Thursday by using his service rifle. His colleagues rushed to the spot hearing the gun shot and took him to the hospital where he was declared brought dead. An inquiry has been ordered into the matter. The jawan had resumed duty after returning home on November 4.
According to Ratanada police, Bhagat Lalso Baban (41) from Maharashtra was posted here at the Signal Core of the Army as Hawaldar.
"On Thursday morning, during duty, he shot himself in throat using his rifle. The bullet piercing his head, hit the wall of the room leaving him dead on the spot," said the police.
On hearing the bullet shot, his colleagues rushed to the spot only to find him lying in a pool of blood. They, however, rushed him to hospital but he was declared brought dead.
His family has been informed and after their arrival, the post-mortem will be conducted. Cause of the suicide, however, could not be ascertained as everybody was shocked by the incident.
