GREATER NOIDA: A 35-year-old BSF constable was shot at by a group of men over personal rivalry in Cholas Ki Madhaiya in Jarcha on Thursday morning. The victim, Gyanendra Singh, posted in Chhattisgarh, was on a 15-day leave and was visiting his home. The victim sustained bullet injury in his abdomen and is admitted in Kailash Hospital in Noida.Following the shootout, Singh's also relatives thrashed the group of men.
According to Shailendra Pratap Singh,SHO of Jarcha police station, Gyanendra's younger brother Dinesh Singh owned a crop harvesting machine, which he used rent out to local farmers. Last week Dinesh had rented out the machine to a farmer, Chandrapal.
"Chandrapal kept the machine at his home for a week but still didn't complete the harvesting. Meanwhile, Dinesh had to rent out the machine to another neighbour. So Dinesh went to Chandrapal's house and brought the machine back," said Nem Chandra, Gyanendra's cousin.
Chandrapal and his son Mithlesh took this as an insult and threatened Dinesh. According to Gyanendra's family, Mithlesh, along with few relatives visited their house and started beating the family members on Thursday morning.
"Gyanendra came to rescue his brother when the accused started firing. The bullet hit his abdomen," said one of the family members. Gyanendra was rushed to a nearby hospital and later referred to Kailash Hospital in Noida. According to the doctor, the victim is in ICU and is stable. He will undergo a surgery for his wounds late night.
The police said both the parties have filed complaints against each other. "Gyanendra's family has alleged that the six accused thrashed the family members and also opened fire, injuring Gyanendra. The six members of other group also sustained injuries as they were allegedly beaten up by Gyanendra's family members. We have filed two cases against both the parties based on their complaint and are investigating the matter," said Shailendra Pratap Singh.
