NEW DELHI: In a startling new development in the Pradhyuman Thakur murder case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday apprehended a student of Gurugram's Ryan International School for the killing.

The arrested student's father confirmed his son has been detained on murder charges. The CBI has not made a statement as the accused student is said to be a minor.

Pradhyumn was found murdered on September 8.

"They (CBI) arrested my son last night. My son has not committed the crime, he informed the gardener and teachers (about the body)," saidthe father of the student arrested, reported ANI.

The CBI is expected to hold a press conference on Wednesday.

Class II student Pradhyumn was found dead with his throat slit inside the school toilet on September 8. The Gurugram police arrested a bus conductor who worked at the school, Ashok Kumar, who later allegedly confessed to the murder. Kumar said he was attempting to sexually abuse Pradhyumn and added that he killed him for resisting.

Kumar's family and friends maintained that he was being framed.

The CBI took over the murder probe on September 22. The agency also took custody of the bus conductor.
