NEW DELHI: Oil and gas stocks Castrol India (down 3.41 per cent), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (down 2.40 per cent), Indian Oil Corporation (down 1.84 per cent), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (down 1.55 per cent), Reliance Industries (down 1.01 per cent) and Oil India (down 0.86 per cent) were trading in the negative zone in Wednesday's morning trade.

The S&P BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 0.87 per cent down at 16,169 around 10:20 am (IST).

Shares of Petronet LNG (up 1.29 per cent), Indraprastha Gas (up 1.15 per cent) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (up 0.21 per cent) were trading up around that time.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was trading flat at 10,349, while the BSE Sensex was 13 points up at 33,383.

Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 28 were trading in the green, while 20 were in the red.

Cipla, Sun Pharma, Axis Bank, Asian Paints, Tata Consultancy Services, Dr Reddy's and Lupin were among the top gainers in the Sensex index.

Bharti Airtel, Reliance Industries, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Tata Motors and NTPC were among the top losers.

On the BSE, 1,209 stocks were advancing whereas 989 stocks were lagging and 92 stocks were appearing unchanged.
