Duo held for blackmailing BJP neta over 'objectionable' CD

Two persons have been arrested for allegedly trying to extort Rs 10 lakh from a local leader in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district claiming that they possess his 'objectionable' CD, the police said today.

Shekhar Dansena (23) and Pitamber Dansena (18) were picked up yesterday for allegedly harassing Kharsia Municipality president Kamal Garg and demanding Rs 10 lakh from him, a police official said.

"Some unidentified persons had called Garg on his phone in August this year and told him that they are in possession of his objectionable CD. They threatened to circulate the CD if he failed to pay Rs 10 lakh to them," he said, adding that on directions of the callers Garg went to Dabhra Road in a bid to catch them.

He identified one of the duo and lodged a complaint with the police on August 25 against Shekhar Dansena and four others, following which a case was registered under sections 384(extortion), 385 (putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC he said.

While one Indar Jhariya was arrested last month in connection with the case, Shekhar Dansena and Pitamber Dansena were picked up yesterday.
