Harassment case: CID quizzes expelled CPM leader Ritabrata

The CID Wednesday questioned expelled CPM leader Ritabrata Banerjee for the second consecutive day, in connection with a sexual harassment case registered against him in Balurghat, at Bhawani Bhawan in Kolkata. “I believe someone from my former party has orchestrated the entire thing. My responsibility is to facilitate the investigation. I had come yesterday as well as today. I answered all their queries. I just want the truth to come out”, said Ritabrata, while leaving CID headquarters.

Ritabrata has been summoned by CID several times, but he appeared before them Tuesday only after Balurghat court granted him anticipatory bail.

The court also ordered him to cooperate with CID, and not exert any influence during the pendency of the case.
The complaint was registered last month by a Balurghat resident, who said Ritabrata had established a physical relationship with her after promising to marry her.
