Roger Federer on Tuesday decided to change into a kilt during a charity match against Andy Murry after a fan from the crowds gave her piece of clothing to the Swiss superstar. Federer beat Murray 3-6 6-3 (5-10) after a champions tie-break.

The 36-year old played wearing the kilt for a brief period of the match before signing it and returning it to the lady. Even Murray, who was playing his first match after Wimbledon where he endured an injury, sported a Tam o’ Shanter complete with ginger wig for the match.

“I played very well in it and when I took it off, I felt naked!” World No. 2 Federer joked after the match. He had earlier tweeted about the warm welcome to Scotland with shortbread made by ‘Andy’s granny’ and a can of Irn Bru. Murray had replied, “Yea that’s a good start but try a deep fried Mars bar on top of that and you’ll be properly ready @rogerfederer.”

The Briton, who has slipped to No. 16 ranking due to a long absence, is expected to return properly for the Australian Open starting in January next year. Federer, on the other hand, has had an exceptional year, winning the Australian Open as well as Wimbledon.
