RAJKOT: The city police on Wednesday arrested a cop and another cop's son for the murder of a man on Monday evening.

Police said accused Arjunsinh Jhala, a constable with police headquarters in Rajkot, and Vedant Ramanuj, son of a assistant sub-inspector — both residents of Rajkot police headquarters — attacked Bharat Vagheliya (40), a resident of Jamnagar Road near Rajkot airport, with iron pipes, bludgeoning him to death.

"According to the case details, Bharat and his wife Mithi (36) had come to the police quarters allegedly to steal steel plates lying there for construction work. Vedant spotted the duo and alerted Arjunsinh. They both chased Bharat and Mithi. While Bharat was caught, Mithi fled. Then they thrashed Bharat with iron pipes, killing him on the spot," an investigating official said.

Both Arjunsinh and Vedant have been arrested on the complaint of Mithi.
