GUWAHATI: Governor Jagadish Mukhi on Tuesday set a deadline of 30 days to clean Umananda temple in the middle of the Brahmaputra in the city.
The governor who recently made a trip to the river island expressed his displeasure at the plight of the temple while interacting with the journalist at his residence. "It was in a deplorable condition. I was shocked to see the inside of the temple. I immediately called up the deputy commissioner and asked him how many days it would take to rectify it. He said it would take 30 days. It should be completed in these days," Jagdish Mukhi said.
Kamrup (Metro) deputy commissioner M Angamuthu said the administration will improve the cleanliness of the temple premises.
"We will improve the cleanliness and hygiene in and around the temple premises. Overall betterment of various public friendly amenities should also be improved," he added.
