Bhavnagar: Five persons were arrested for stealing copper wires and rubber worth Rs 1.50 lakh from a ship beached at Alang ship breaking yard on Sunday night.
The accused were identified as Ravindra Prajapati (22), Vimalkumar Chaudhary (25), Achhelal Vishwakarma (32) and Mintu Chaudhary (34), all residents of Alang Yard plot-16, and Ravindra Paswan (32), a resident of Manar village of Talaja taluka.
"The gang had sneaked into a half-cut ship and stole eight 20-feet-long copper wires and rubber, all weighing 500 kg, worth Rs 1.50 lakh. The case against them was registered on the complaint of Haresh Parmar, a resident of Kaliyabid area in Bhavnagar," said Alang marine police station.
