7 injured as goons attack UP players in train

Seven Kanpur based football players and athletes, including a woman, were attacked and injured by goons on a train at Bhatparrani railway station in Deoria on Tuesday . The injured were admitted to district hospital for treatment while the police were in the process of filing an FIR after identifying some of the attackers.


Reports said the players were returning to Kanpur via Gwalior-Chhapra Express after participating in a national level tournament in Samastipur, Bihar held on November 2.After an altercation over sharing of seat, 10-12 goons attacked them with hockey-sticks in coach number 6 when the train reached Bhatparrani railway station.
