Filipino toymaker Elmer Padilla has a deadline to meet. He's transforming a flip-flop into a gift that he hopes to be able to give to President Donald Trump when he visits Manila next week. (SOUNDBITE) (Filipino) TOYMAKER, ELMER PADILLA, SAYING: "First of all, I did this to show that we Filipinos love making art, and we love idolizing presidents who help our country. I also did this to welcome him (Donald Trump) and I hope Donald Trump enjoys the character that I made for him." Padilla's had plenty of practice. He's well known locally, for his collection of flip flop superheroes; the Incredible Hulk is a particular favorite. And each character is made from recycled or factory-rejected flip flops. (SOUNDBITE) (Filipino) TOYMAKER, ELMER PADILLA, SAYING: "I focused on material that are treated useless to send a message to the youth that we can still put old things like flip flops to use no matter what, as long as they're creative." And now he wants to take that creative message directly to President Trump...if he can only find a way.
