Left Front seeks status report on Indian economy post note ban

The CPI(M)-led in West Bengal today sought a status report from the Reserve of (RBI) on the post-economy in to understand the impact of the government's anti- move.

chairman and CPI(M) politburo member Biman Bose said the had been making tall claims about and it was time the RBI furnished a status report on the country's economy post-November 8, 2016, the day when Prime Minister Modi-led banned notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denominations.

"We want the RBI to come out with a status report on post This report will bring out the truth whether note ban has really helped people or adversely affected their interests," Bose said.

The CPI(M) leader also asserted that the move to ban high-value notes in November last year had crippled the informal sector of our economy, which contributed to over 40 per cent of our GDP and accounts for nearly three-fourths of our employment.

"The country was pushed towards a financial anarchy after demonetisation," Bose added.
