National Government Services’ Next Generation Desktop Program Maintains Maturity Level 5 Appraisal, Signaling Peak Performance

07:00 EST 8 Nov 2017 | Businesswire

National Government Services, Inc., announced today that its Next Generation Desktop (NGD) program has maintained its Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) ® Maturity Level 5 appraisal, the highest process maturity level an organization can reach. The NGD was originally appraised at CMMI Level 5 status in November 2014.

To maintain a Level 5 appraisal, an organization must demonstrate to independent appraisers that it has continually innovated and improved processes based on a quantitative understanding of business objectives and performance needs. NGD has not only maintained the Level 5 appraisal but continued to bring enhanced value to its customer, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

The CMMI maturity levels are often used by government agencies and Fortune 500 companies to evaluate the potential for organizations to consistently deliver quality solutions on time and within budget. Developed by the Software Engineering Institute of Carnegie-Mellon University, the CMMI model is divided into five maturity levels that cover a variety of process areas, including collaboration with customers and partners.

“Government contractors have a duty to continually offer their customers extraordinary services. It’s no longer acceptable to think that what you delivered yesterday will suffice for tomorrow,” said National Government Services President Fran Gary. “Maintaining its CMMI Level 5 appraisal is a testament to our NGD Team’s ‘customer-first’ mind-set and dedication to continual improvement.”

As the awardee of the NGD contract, National Government Services developed and maintains a standardized single desktop application for customer care agents to respond to inquiries into the 1-800-MEDICARE call center. This program is powered through National Government Services’ federal health IT solutions.
