RAJKOT: A huge cache of liquor worth Rs 7.90 lakh was seized from a truck at Aniyara village toll booth in Maliya Miyana taluka of Morbi district early on Wednesday. Two persons were arrested for the crime.

Acting on a tip-off that the truck was to arrive from Haryana carrying the liquor supply, rapid response cell officials of Morbi police kept a watch at Aniyara village toll booth and intercepted the truck.

The cops seized 1,836 Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) bottles worth Rs 6.54 lakh and 1,368 beer cans worth Rs 1.36 lakh. Those arrested have been identified as truck driver Lakshman Beniwal (20), a resident of Baitu village of Barmer district in Rajasthan, and truck cleaner Suresh Potalia (18), a resident of Bhurakhiya village of Barmer district in Rajasthan.

"During their interrogation, the duo said the supply had been sent by one Rajaram from Hissar in Haryana to be delivered in Morbi," an RR Cell official said.
