PANAJI: Non-delegates will also get a chance to watch films during the International Film Festival of India (Iffi) with the inauguration of Bioscope, a village on the theme 'New Age Cinema' on November 21 opposite Old GMC, Panaji.
The village will have four inflated theatres of 150-seat capacity with 5.1 sound systems for children's cinema and Indian cinema
A skill studio will also be set up at the centre of the village. A short film competition on the theme 'IFFI as never seen before' will be held for new film makers. The films should be less than three minutes duration and can be edited at the studio. Prizes for the best films will be distributed on November 27 at the venue.
Stalwarts of the Hindi and Marathi film industry will also be interviewed in front of the non-delegates by renowned film journalist at the Katta segment. These sessions will be held from 7.30 to 8.30 pm every day between November 21 and 27 followed by public interaction.
In addition, there will be a performing area and an exclusive zone in the village for stalls selling food, beverages and handicraft.
As Goa will once again play host to the festival, which will be in its 48th edition this year, the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) will have a special section dedicated to premieres of movies produced by Goans in feature and non-feature categories.
They had received seven entries following which the jury has recommended four films: Mahaprayan (feature film) by Abhay Jog; Marisoul 1998 (non-feature film) by Suyash Kamat; Zuzari (non- feature film) by Mandar Talauliker and Tiffin Box (non-feature film) by Brijesh Kakodkar.
Scheduled to be held from November 20 to 28, the event has received over 5,000 delegate registrations so far.
