Speeding car knocks down four in Tapi, three dead

SURAT: Three persons died after being run over by a speeding car on Bedchit-Buhari Road in Tapi district on Wednesday.


Two of them died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries in a hospital at Vyara. One more with severe injuries was shifted to New Civil Hospital in Surat for treatment.


The deceased were identified as Rajesh Chaudhary (26), Shankar Chaudhary (40) and Vijay Chaudhary (45). Vijay's son Kaushik (23) has been shifted to NCH in a critical condition. The car had a registration plate of Maharashtra (MH-48-A-3441).


Rajesh was walking on the road, while Shankar was on his motorcycle. Vijay was going on his bike with his son Kaushik. The car driver lost control and ran over the victims, the Valod police said. The victims were going to Buhari for shopping in the weekly market while the car was going from Buhari to Bedchit. Investigation revealed that the car owner had come to his relative's house in Buhari. One of the relatives of the Maharashtra resident car owner was driving the car. Police are yet to disclose name of the accused. "A resident of Buhari is suspect in the accident and we will arrest him after detailed investigation. He was driving his relative's car from Maharashtra and lost control over it," the police said.
