Demonetisation anniversary: PM thanks citizens; opposition calls it ‘blunder’

On the anniversary of Demonetisation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanks the citizens of the country for supporting the policy. On 8 November, 2016, PM Modi announced the government's decision to scrap old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. However, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi termed the decision as the "PM's thoughtless act" and one that is "a tragedy". Congress as well as other opposition parties are celebrating November 8, as 'Black Day' even as the Modi government is celebrating the day as 'Anti-Black Money Day'.
