‘Party MLAs can raise issues concerning their constituencies’

In the wake of the Opposition party YSR Congress deciding to boycott the Assembly session, Chief Minister and TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu has suggested the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders to take a cue from the Singapore Assembly.

“The Opposition is mere namesake in Singapore Parliament. Notwithstanding it, the ruling party conducts the sessions very seriously,” he said on Tuesday.

Interacting with the party leaders and the Ministers, Mr. Naidu said the Assembly session could be conducted here on similar lines.

Mr. Naidu said the MLAs could raise issues concerning their constituencies. Earlier, the sessions were frequently obstructed by the Opposition members. Conducting business was not that smooth.

The MLAs would have to make the best use of the present situation and try to solve the problems in their constituencies.

Every MLA should get an opportunity to speak in the House. The Ministers should also come prepared to answer every question asked by the members, he said.

Jagan’s padayatra

YSR Congress Party president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s padayatra also came up for discussion at the meeting. The TDP leaders brought to the CM’s notice that Mr. Jagan was unable to react to the Paradise Papers regarding economic offenders in the country in which his name had figured.

Responding to it, Mr. Naidu said Mr. Jagan was resorting to personal accusations as he had no sincerity to solve the problems faced by the public. He was more interested in becoming Chief Minister than focussing on public issues. His ‘padayatra’ lacked direction, he said.

The TD Legislature Party (TDLP) meeting would be conducted on November 9 at 2 p.m. Mr. Naidu said the TDP leaders should be prepared to continue the ‘Intintiki Telugu Desam’ soon after the Assembly session.

Meanwhile, TDP founder president N.T. Rama Rao’s son N. Jayakrishna met the Chief Minister at the latter’s office at the Secretariat. The details of the meeting are not known.
