Koenigsegg’s Agera has toppled speed records to become the fastest car in the world. Last weekend, the Swedish manufacturer's Agera RS model hit 458.6 kmph on a closed Nevada highway.
In the process, the super-car driven by test driver Niklas Lilja smashed the 434 kmph record held by Bugatti Veyron Super Sport since 2010.

This is not the first time that Agera, which comes with a 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that generates 1,360bhp power and a torque of 1,011 lb ft has broken speed records. It had earlier broken the record set by Bugatti Chiron by speeding from 0 kmph to 400kmph and back to halt in a mere 36.44 seconds.
The recent interest in setting speed records is credited mainly to the ongoing competition between car manufacturers Koenigsegg, Bugatti and Hennessey to become the masters of speed records. The companies as per the report by UK based Express have been introducing hi speed cars to the world.
While Bugatti had held speed records until recently with its Veyron and Chiron till they were broken by Agera, Hennessey too has announced that it will soon unveil a new model i.e. Venom F5 that could travel at over 482 kmph.
