Demonetisation anniversary: Opposition observes ‘black day’ across India

Opposition parties including Congress observed the first anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation drive as ‘black day’ across the nation. In cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bhubaneswar, workers of various parties like Congress, TMC, CPI took out rallies and shouted slogans against Modi govt and it’s demonetization drive. In Mumbai, many Congress workers performed sradh and also shaved off their heads to mark the day ‘black day’. On November 8, 2016, the old Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 500 notes were scrapped after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an unexpected announcement in a television address.
