(ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Smokers are being given an extra reason to quit at one Japanese company, where non-smoking employees are rewarded an extra six days of paid leave on top of their annual allotment. Japanese marketing company Piala introduced this policy in September after receiving anonymous complaints through an office suggestion box that smokers had longer break times. About 35 percent of the total 120 employees smoke, according to the company's human resources department. To qualify for the extra leave, the employee has to be smoke free for a year. Thirty-one people, including non-smokers have applied. The policy is not without its critics. Japanese media questioned the effectiveness of using holidays to help people quit in a country where few people manage to take their annual paid leave anyway. Japan ranks at the bottom worldwide in anti-smoking regulations and Tokyo has faced pressure from bodies such as the International Olympic Committee and the World Health Organization (WHO) to go smoke-free by 2020 when it hosts the Summer Olympics.
