CHENNAI: CCTV footage of a man attacking two persons, including a woman on Gandhi Road, Velachery, shocked the public on Monday. However, police arrested the man. Four persons who were injured are undergoing treatment in hospital.

Police investigation revealed that G Yogeshwaran (29) of Gandhi Nagar, who is allegedly mentally disturbed, got into a fight with one P Sivakumar, a bakery owner, opposite his house.

“Sivakumar, had allegedly yelled at Yogeshwaran for smoking in front of his shop often. An annoyed Yogeshwaran attacked Sivakumar and another staffer Senthil last month and a case was registered.

On Monday, Yogeshwaran spotted Sivakumar near the shop and immediately took a sickle to attack him. When he reached the shop, he attacked Vijayalakshmi and Shankar working in the shop. Later, he attacked John and Mani, customers, who tried to stop him from entering the shop.

Sivakumar managed to escape,  but Yogeshwaran chased him and allegedly threw stones at the public who tried to stop him,” said a police official.
