Director Shashank, who is starting out with this production house, has chosen to work with Ajai Krishna Rao for the film titled Thayige Takka Maga. While the director for the film has changed, and now Ved Guru will helm the film, the team is particular about having the right cast and especially about the actor playing the mother’s role. After much thought, they have zeroed in on actress Sumalatha.

Sumalatha

In this movie, the hero’s mother is a prominent character. This film has a ‘rebel’ mother, says the producer. Thayige Takka Maga has Sumalatha playing a fiery lawyer.Actor Ajai Rao is also happy to work with Sumalatha says Shashank. “Ajai’s first film Excuse Me had the actress playing his mother, and it became a hit combination, especially the song two of them are featured in. This is the second time the two are coming togehther, and it is all the more special because this is for Ajai’s 25th film.

Scripting and pre-production work for the movie took eight months, and the film will now go on floors from December.Shashank says, “Production is a hands-on job much like direction. Though I have a team, I still give creative inputs, especially since my name goes with it. I have earned a name for myself as a director and I want to retain that as a producer, and will only be associated with good quality films. I was cautious which movies I would take on and therefore took a while with this.”

The title was inspired from Dr Rajkumar’s classic hit film, but producer was insistent not to include any dialogue, song or scene from the previous film. “The title worked for our story but the story is current, relevant to today’s living,” he says.Shashank will finalise the heroine for his movie soon and get started on the rehearsals, before the team comes together at the sets.
