"Global entrepreneur summit in Hyderabad to benefit women

The Global Entrepreneur Summit - 2017 to be held in this month end will help women entrepreneurs overcome the challenges they face to grow their business, US Consul General in Robert Burgess has said.

The summit themed 'Women First - Prosperity for All" will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi and Advisor to US President Donald Trump and his daughter, Ivanka Trump.


Over 1600 delegates, including entrepreneurs and investors, CEOs of major knowledge-based industries from across the world are likely to participate in the event from November 28 to 30.

Speaking to PTI on the sidelines of a Indo-US two-day trade meet which began here yesterday, Burgess said the purpose is to highlight women in business and women entrepreneurs, besides focusing on the difficulties they confront.

"Women entrepreneurs face some specific challenges in access to capital," Burgess noted.

The Consul General said the purpose behind the themewas to create awareness about the extra challenges they (women) face ingetting their businesses to the next level.

Another objective was to highlight the skills andideas these entrepreneurs have, which enables to bring in other panels and experts to provide a mentoring role to women entrepreneurs.

Burgess said there will be several programmes in the area of skill development, overcoming challenges and exploringideas the entrepreneurs possess.

On the business potential, Burgess said there is a huge potential for business in the areas of defence, aircraft, space cooperation.

He pointed out that and the US are the natural partners in terms of business because both have innovation based economies that can benefit each others.

He, however, stressed upon continuous discussions between governments on trade policies for the mutual benefits.
