AAP marks currency ban anniversary as ‘Dhoka Diwas’

PANAJI: The Goa unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa on Wednesday observed the first anniversary of demonetisation as 'betrayal day' (Dhoka Diwas), saying it was a destructive step that brought misery to the common man.

Office-bearer Rahul Mhambre said AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal had termed it the biggest scam since independence.

Questioning the logic of the decision, AAP said that officially the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has said that only one per cent of the total black money returned from the system, proving that all the sacrificies by the common man had gone down the drain.

AAP said that the government has shown that it was completely insensitive to the citizens by pushing its own agenda, and demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should apologise to the people of the country.
