NEW DELHI: Majority of the bank stocks, including YES Bank (down 3.97 per cent), Punjab National Bank (down 1.42 per cent) and Federal Bank (down 1.29 per cent) were trading in the negative zone in Tuesday's trade, dragging the Nifty Bank index lower.

The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.22 per cent down at 25,516 around 10:10 am (IST).

Shares of Bank of Baroda (down 1.01 per cent), Axis Bank (down 0.90 per cent), Canara Bank (down 0.87 per cent), State Bank of India (down 0.58 per cent), IDFC Bank (down 0.52 per cent) and ICICI Bank (down 0.38 per cent) were also trading in the red.

However, Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 0.78 per cent), HDFC Bank (up 0.59 per cent) and IndusInd Bank (up 0.06 per cent) were up around that time.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 5 points down at 10,447, while the BSE Sensex was 27 points up at 33,758.

Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 21 were trading in the green, while 28 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, Punjab National Bank, Idea Cellular, BHEL, REC, State Bank of India, SAIL, NHPC, Tata Motors, PFC and Bank of Baroda were among most traded securities on the National Stock Exchange.

HCL Tech, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, GAIL, Zee Entertainemnt, Ambuja Cements and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation were among the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.

However, YES Bank, Indian Oil Corp, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation, Reliance Industries, Indiabulls Housing Finance, UPL, Bharti Airtel and Bajaj Finance were the top losers.
