HYDERABAD: A division bench of High Court on Monday issued notices to the Telangana government and State Public Service Commission, directing them to respond as to why the candidates having B.Ed and D.Ed in special education were not eligible for applying for posts of Secondary Grade Teachers/School Assistants.

The bench of justices V Ramasubramanian and M Ganga Rao also directed the petitioner to implead the Rehabilitation Council of India which had issued a circular in 2005 to all the secretaries of the state governments directing them to treat holders of B.Ed degree and D.Ed diploma in special education as equivalent to B.Ed general degree holders. The bench was dealing with a petition filed by Telangana Inclusive Education Resource Teachers’ Association challenging the state’s decision not to include candidature of those who have B.Ed, D.Ed qualifications from applying for TRT.
