144 sacks of ration foodgrain seized, 3 booked

Three persons including godown incharge of state food corporation have been booked after 144 sacks of rice and wheat were seized from a vehicle here, a senior official said today.

The foodgrain meant for PDS distribution was allegedly being sumggled for blackmarketing, District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Mishra said.


On complaint of villagers, a civil supply department team conducted a raid in which 85 sacks of wheat and 59 sacks of rice were recovered from a vehicle on Utraula-Balrampur Highway near Bhagwatpur village, he said.

Later, an FIR was registered against three persons including godwon incharge of state food corporation,Balak Ram, and a ration shop owner and the vehicle owner.

Further probe is on, he added.
