Market Now: Metal stocks crack; SAIL, Jindal Steel among top losers

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Metal index was trading 0.57 per cent down at 3,929 around 12:40 pm (IST), with shares of Jindal Stainless (Hisar) (down 4.10 per cent) and Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (down 2.50 per cent) as the top losers.

Shares of Hindalco Industries (down 1.12 per cent), Jindal Steel & Power (down 0.92 per cent), National Aluminium Company (down 0.90 per cent), JSW Steel (down 0.56 per cent), Tata Steel (down 0.52 per cent), Hindustan Zinc (down 0.39 per cent), Vedanta (down 0.37 per cent) and Coal India (down 0.37 per cent) were also trading in the red.

However, shares of Hindustan Copper (up 1.83 per cent), MOIL (up 1.07 per cent), NMDC (up 1.03 per cent) and APL Apollo Tubes (up 0.23 per cent) were trading up around that time.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 16 points down at 10,435, while the BSE Sensex was 62 points down at 33,669.

Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 19 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red.

Shares of HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, Zee Entertainment, IndusInd Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Wipro were the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.

On the other hand, YES Bank, Reliance Industries, Indian Oil Corporation, UPL, Indiabulls Housing Finance and Asian Paints were among the top losers.
