Vadodara: M S University officials on Tuesday decided to extend the timings of the library for students of All India and Central Services Training Centre (AICSTC).

The university's decision comes a day after the students of the centre put their foot down demanding that the centre's library should remain open for 24 hours so that they can prepare for competitive examinations.

The students on Monday evening had planned to start an indefinite protest but after vice-dean of science faculty Dr Haribhai Kataria and vigilance officer P P Kanani assured them of meeting MSU vice-chancellor professor Parimal Vyas, the students wound up their protest.

On Tuesday, the university officials decided that the library's timings will be extended by two hours on an experimental basis for a week.

Instead of 12 hours between 8am and 8pm, the library will now remain open till 10pm. The university officials have informed the students that it will keep the library open till 10pm after a week only if it is found feasible.

The officials have also assured the students that it will soon address other problems faced by them, including proper washroom facilities.

The students had stated that since the toilet on the ground floor of the centre is locked since nine months, they are forced to share toilet with girls on the first floor.
