Thane: A bar waitress and her 11-year-old daughter were found murdered in their house in Pimprigaon on the Panvel Road in Daighar. Police said Nazia Siddiqui (32) and Taniya Sayyed may have been killed on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.

Relatives who live nearby had repeatedly called up the deceased on her cellphone but there was no response, so they went to her apartment in Karmanagari but no one opened the door. Police, who were contacted, found the bodies of the duo inside.

The woman, repeatedly stabbed, was found lying in a pool of blood, while the girl was strangled with a nylon rope, DCP (zone-1) D S Swamy said.

Shil Daighar police station registered an offence under section 302 of the IPC.

Nazia lived with her daughter and son in the ground floor flat. "It was her third marriage and her husband is based in Dubai," said a police officer.

Their servant and her boyfriend are suspects, police said. Some gold ornaments and cash are missing, police added. "Robbery doesn't seem to be the only motive. We have clues and some teams have fanned out to nab the accused," said a police officer.
