HYDERABAD: A 20-year-old graduate student from University of Hyderabad (UoH) has allegedly attempted suicide by jumping out of the widow of the third floor of his hostel in the campus during wee hours of Tuesday.
According to the Gachibowli police, the student identified as Birbal Koizara (20), native of Tripura, was pursuing second-year IMA Language Science course.
At around 12.30 am, Birbal allegedly jumped from the third floor of his hostel building and fell on the cycle stand. His hostel mates, who woke to the loud noise, rushed out and found him severely injured.
"He has suffered head injuries and multiple fractures and has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment. The youngster is under observation for another 24 hours," said Cyberbad police.
The university officials also visited Birbal and said medical investigations are underway.
The police have registered a case and informed his family members about the incident. However, reasons behind his suicide attempt are yet to be ascertained.
