Patients across Rajasthan are likely to suffer more as talks have failed between the government and the striking doctors for the second day.

At least 10,000 doctors are on strike seeking an immediate resolution to their demands of better service conditions and benefits. Many of them have submitted their resignation as well.

Health Minister Kalicharan Saraf told media persons that talks have failed because doctors have been adamant about immediately implementing their demands which have financial repercussion but this was not within his jurisdiction. The talks concluded around 11 pm.

Yesterday too, talks were held between the government and the doctors which remained inconclusive.

Saraf accused the president of striking doctors Ajay Chaudhary for failure whereas he said it was the government which had not done anything to meet their demands despite their notice of strike given 100 days ago.

The government has imposed essential Services Maintenance Act and threatened to take strict action but so far has not resorted to tough measures.

Government is trying to maintain basic medical services through Ayurveda and homeopathic treatment but medical services have crumbled across the state with several deaths reported for want of emergency care.
