Chandrapur: Yet another case of tiger death due to electrocution has come to fore in Chimur as body of a tigress was recovered in a farm near village Amadi-Begde on Tuesday evening. Forest officials suspect that the tigress was electrocuted by electrified wire laid to prevent the intrusion of wild animals.

Residents of Amadi discovered the carcass of tigress and informed the forest officials in evening. RFO, Chimur range, BH Chiwande rushed to the scene with his team. Sources informed that the foresters have recovered a large wire from the spot. They suspect that the same was used to electrify the fence of the farm. Forest officers posted guards after inquest formalities for overnight watch. Post mortem on the body of tigress will be performed on Wednesday as it was dark by the time the carcass was recovered. Large crowd gathered on the spot and foresters had to take toiling efforts to handle the mob.

This is the seventh death of a tiger due to electrocution in the state within little over one year's span. Amadi tigress is the third victim of electrocution with the electrified wires put on the farm fences in last 25 days. The radio-collared Chaprala tigress was found dead on November 2 outside a farm in Morada in Chamorshi range in Gadchiroli. On October 14, collared tigress of Brahmapuri had died of electrocution in Ambhora near Bor Tiger Reserve in Wardha district.
