The much-awaited trailer of Ali Abbas Zafar's sequel to 'Ek Tha Tiger' starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif has been released.
The trailer shows Tiger, an Indian intelligence agent on a mission to rescue 25 Indian nurses stranded in the war-torn Iraq.
The action-packed trailer gives us a hint that the film might be inspired by the real-life plight of Indian nurses in the city of Tikrit in Iraq in 2014.
While Katrina Kaif reprises her role of the Pakistani ISI agent Zoya, Girish Karnad as Shenoy, Tiger's boss in RAW.
Released in 2012, Kabir Khan's 'Ek Tha Tiger' had ended with Tiger telling Shenoy that he will return only when India and Pakistan no longer need RAW and ISI. Well, apparently, Tiger is back.
'Tiger Zinda Hai' is slated for a 22nd December 2017 release.
Previously, a Malayalam film, 'Take Off', based on the same incident was released in early 2017.
In 2014, forty six nurses were stranded in a hospital in Tikrit and were caught in the line of war. The ISIS, who captured them, later moved them to Mosul. The nurses were flown to the homeland after 23 days of captivity.
Salman is also gearing up for 'Bharat', which will be directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.
The movie is an official adaptation of 2014 South Korean film, "Ode to My Father", which narrates modern Korean history from the 1950s to the modern day through the life of an ordinary man and events such as the Hungnam Evacuation during the 1950 Korean War.
The film will also depict the government's decision to dispatch nurses and miners to West Germany in the '60s and the Vietnam War.
