BENGALURU:The iPhone x fever has caught Bengaluru. As the handsets are all sold out in the city, many people are buying the devices from the sellers on online marketplace but these devices could be fake, warn the iPhone store managers and police.

The devices are being sold for more than `1.15 lakh while the original price of the phone is `1,02 lakh. The online website has more than 400 sellers who are selling 64gb and 256gb versions of the phone. When City Express contacted a seller on the pretext of buying a phone, he says, "I got 15 handsets from Dubai and sold all of them. Only two pieces are left". He adds that the buyer can also verify the phone before buying it. "We will give 110 per cent guarantee of the iPhone. You can check and buy," says another seller when asked if the handset is original and comes with guarantee.
Most of the sellers are selling fake phones. Harish Agarwal, a iPhone store manager, says, "This is not the first time they are selling fake phones online. They excite the buyers to own the brand new model. We learn that the phones are fake when customers get them to service them."
The online sellers ask the customers to reach Majestic and give them a call. They then let the buyers know the hotel 'to make a deal'. An iPhone user Devraj says, "I went and checked the device that one of the sellers was selling. It seemed fake as the box of the phone and the seal also didn't look original. Only if you look at it carefully, you'll know." Devraj adds that the seller agreed to give the phone to him on an advance payment of `10,000. "Who would give an original `1 lakh phone for `10,000 and ask you to pay the rest by evening," he asks.
Jinendra Kanagavi, DCP, cyber crime, says that the customer should transfer the money to seller only after receiving genuine products. "Unless you have first hand information about the product from the seller, do not rush yourself to buy them," he warns.
