PANAJI: Drawing attention to the need for more research and study of natural treasures in the Indian Ocean, chief minister Manohar Parrikar said the water body must be explored for resources beyond fish.

"India has over 20 million sq m of exclusive economic zone (EEZ) where we have a lot of potential. Mining can be done at the bottom of the ocean for minerals," Parrikar said, while speaking at the inaugural of a workshop on science and technology communication strategies and approaches, held at National Institute of Oceanography, Dona Paula, on Tuesday. tnn
