Will donate residuals from Miramax and TWC movies: Ben Affleck

Press Trust of India  |  Los Angeles

Actor Ben Affleck has decided to donate any profit that he earns in future from his films that were produced by The Weinstein Company and Miramax Films.

The "Justice League" star said that he will follow the example set by his friend and filmmaker Kevin Smith who had decided to donate his future from Weinstein-made projects to non-profit organisation Women in Film.

Affleck had earlier condemned Harvey Weinstein, who has been fired from the TWC, for the sexual harassment allegations leveled against him, saying he was "saddened and angered" by claims made against the movie mogul by some of the biggest celebrities in Hollywood.

In an interview with FOX5 DC, Affleck said, "Once Kevin suggested that, I decided to do the same thing, so any further residuals that I get from a Miramax or a Weinstein movie will go either to (Film Independent) or to RAINN (the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network)."

"I just didn't want to any more checks from the guy," he added.

Last month, The New York Times and The New Yorker published exposes alleging Weinstein has sexually harassed and sexually assaulted women in the entertainment industry for decades.

Since, more than 70 women, including Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Cara Delevingne, have revealed having similar experiences.
