VARANASI: In PM Narendra Modi's Parliamentary constituency , the BJP has skipped six wards dominated by Muslims and avoided to field its candidates there.

Of the 90 wards of Varanasi Municipal Corporation, BJP has decided to field candidates only on 84. The list was released by state chief Mahendra Nath Pandey on Saturday . It became clear that the BJP has decided not to field candidates in Kamalgadha, Chhittanpura, Jamaluddinpur, Rasulpura, Bandhu Kachchibagh and Kamalpura wards, which are dominated by Muslims. The party has fielded candidates in 17 other wards with high Muslim population.

The BJP's city chief Pra deep Agrahari admitted that such six wards are dominated by Muslims where there is less possibility of victory for the party.

The list of 84 candidates of BJP for VMC makes it clear that the other backward classes (OBCs) had remained the top preference of the party . Sitting corporators Sanjay Jaiswal of Ramrepur, Ashok Seth of Khojwa, Virendra Seth of Ramapura, Ashok Maurya of Pandeypur and Rajendra Patel of Sarsauli failed to retain their tickets. They staged protest against denial of ticket to them on Sunday by alleging that one corporator, who opposed the party in the Assembly polls, was fielded again while they were ignored without giving any reason by the party .
