HYDERABAD: The existing old building of Central Library at Audiah Nagar in Secunderabad will be dismantled and a new modern building would be built at a cost around Rs 2.98 crore by the GHMC.
The present building is in a poor shape and requires immediate attention as the library is visited by hundreds of people. The GHMC gave administrative sanction last month for construction of a new building as per a government memo issued the department of school education (training) and as per the administrative sanction proceedings of the director of public libraries.
GHMC officials said animal husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav had been requesting the GHMC to develop a modern library in the area. Minister for municipal administration and urban development KT Rama Rao, during a visit to the library in April this year, announced that a new building would be constructed to house the library. GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy has accorded approval for construction following the state government’s permission.
