CHENNAI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited DMK chief M Karunanidhi at his Gopalapuram residence in Chennai on Monday and invited him to his residence in New Delhi.
"Come and stay in my New Delhi residence and take rest," Modi told Karunanidhi during his 15-minute meeting with the DMK chief. It was for the first time that Modi was visiting Karunanidhi.<br/>+
Karunanidhi, who is recuperating from illness, was briefed about the PM's visit by DMK working president M K Stalin.

Karunanidhi presented Modi a copy of Kuraloviam, his commentary on Thirukkural, and the 75th anniversary souvenir of the DMK organ Murasoli.
The Prime Minister met Karunanidhi's wife Dayalu Ammal and enquired about her health.
Stalin and Karunanidhi's daughter and Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi welcomed the Prime Minister with a shawl when he arrived at the residence. DMK leaders Durai Murugan and T K S Elangovan were also were present during Modi's with Karunanidhi.
Modi waved to a handful of BJP cadre who assembled outside the Karunanidhi's residence. The cadre raised party slogans to draw Modi's attention.
After Modi left, Karunanidhi came out to the portico of his house and waved to those present.
