NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.34 per cent up at 1,705 around 01:50 pm (IST), with shares of Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (up 4.91 per cent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 3.46 per cent), Bharti Infratel (up 2.67 per cent) and ITI (up 2.21 per cent) as the top gainers.

However, Reliance Communications (down 5.33 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (down 3.14 per cent), Tejas Networks (down 1.86 per cent), Aksh Optifibre (down 1.76 per cent), Idea Cellular (down 1.74 per cent), Himachal Futuristic Communications (down 0.98 per cent) and GTL Infrastructure (down 0.85 per cent) were trading in the negative territory around that time.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 28 points up at 10,481, while the BSE Sensex was 134 points up at 33,819.

Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 28 were trading in the green, while 22 were in the red.

Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki India, Cipla, Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services and ICICI Bank were among the top gainers in the Sensex kitty.

On the contrary, Sun Pharma, Axis Bank, Reliance Industries, Lupin, NTPC, Asian Paints and Dr Reddy's were among the top losers.
