AAP leader Sukhpal Khaira on Monday said that he would be take up with party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal the issue of members of his own party “backstabbing” him. Speaking to The Indian Express after getting partial relief from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, a combative Khaira said that the HC order was a slap on the face of his detractors within the party as well those in Congress, SAD and BJP.

“As soon as I am free from the litigation in the High Court after the next date of hearing, I am going to take up the issue of those who back stabbed me within the party with Arvind Kejriwal. I am going to tell him that these individuals within AAP, who sought my resignation just on the basis of a summon, were actually hand in glove with Rana Gurjit Singh,” he said.

Khaira added: “I am deeply hurt by the backstabbing. I will demand strict action against these people when I speak to Arvind Kejriwal because they are thick with the Congress and they are ultimately harming the party.”

A senior party leader, not willing to be named, said that while Kejriwal was quick to defend his own ministers who faced court cases and FIRs and always blamed the Modi government for vendetta, has not uttered a single word in favour of Khaira, who was being attacked by SAD and Congress. “There is no doubt that the Delhi lobby, which consists of a few leaders, is still actively meddling in the functioning of AAP in Punjab and are unhappy that they have been ousted from the state. They do not realise the harm that this is doing to the party,” he said.
