‘Padanaveedu’ to ensure tribal students’ education

Education Minister C. Ravindranath inaugurated the State-level Student-friendly Shelter Programme at Nachivayal in Marayur on Monday.

The shelter (Padanaveedu) programme aims at educating those who had dropped out of school and providing higher education to tribal students.

The Minister said the programme would be implemented in all districts and if the local bodies could provide land, the government would take up the initiative to construct own buildings.

The programme is being implemented by Sarva Sikha Abhiyan, Kerala.

The Minister later inaugurated the IHRD’s Anchunadu Applied Science College. He said all the educational institutions in Deviulam taluk would be made hi-tech. The Revenue Department has provided 12 acres of land for the college.

He said that the government aimed at modernising educational institutions in backward areas. All educational institutions in Devikulam taluk would be made hi-tech before March next year, he said.
