SRINAGAR: An Indian Army soldier and three terrorists, reportedly of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit, were killed in an encounter at Aglar Kandi village of south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Monday evening. A civilian was also injured in the encounter.
Pulwama SSP Mohammad Aslam said soldier Sham Sundar of 44 RR succumbed at the Army hospital after he was grievously injured during a firefight with the terrorists. Three suspected JeM terrorists were also killed in the encounter, and two AK-47 rifles and a pistol recovered, said defence spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia. Their identities are yet to be ascertained, he added.
A villager — Tariq Ahmad Bhat — was hospitalised after sustaining a bullet injury on his chest when massive clashes broke out between security forces and residents during the encounter. Internet services were snapped in the district for security reasons.
