Four alleged bovine smugglers were arrested and 46 bovines rescued in Udhampur and Samba districts of Jammu and Kashmir today, police said.
Based on a tip off, a police party of a police station at Chenani in Udhampur during checking of vehicles intercepted two trucks, a police officer said, adding that during their search, 33 bovines were found.
Four persons were arrested and a case registered, the officer said, adding that the vehicles were also seized.
In another such incident, 13 bovines were rescued and a truck seized at Ghagwal in Samba district today, he said, adding that the driver of the truck managed to escape.
A case has been registered and investigation is on to nab the driver, he added.
