(ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION) Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe officially welcomed his counterpart U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday (November 6) as the two countries sought to strengthen their relationship in trade and consolidate their position against North Korea. Trump and First Lady Melania were welcomed by Japanese Self Defence Force (JSDF) Troops at the Akasaka Palace after they paid a visit to the Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko at the Imperial Palace. Trump and Abe then fed carps in the gardens of the State Guesthouse built in 1909 for visiting dignitaries, before sitting down for a working lunch. Trump arrived on Sunday (November 5) where he met Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for golf, lunch and dinner. Trump has vowed to push for a free and balanced trade partnership with Japan after decades of "massive trade deficits."
